Dr. Rami Shasha is a double board certified eye physician and surgeon in both Canada and in the United States. Dr. Shasha is both a fellow of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and a fellow of the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Shasha began his medical training at the age of 20. He received his medical degree (M.D) from the University of Ottawa in June of 2014. Dr. Shasha completed his five-year surgical residency in Ophthalmology at the Ivey Eye Institute in London, Ontario.

Dr. Shasha developed a technique in cataract surgery known as the Shasha Sequence (Centralize, Tilt and Chop), which is featured on the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Shasha was the first surgeon to highlight the unique benefit of the temporal approach for the Yamane Intrascleral Haptic Fixation technique. This finding was accepted in the prestigious Journal of Cataract of Refractive Surgery.

Dr. Shasha is passionate about surgical and medical education and has created over 2300 surgical teaching videos, illustrations and animations intended to be used as a teaching tool for eye surgeons. His teaching videos have generated an audience of 21,000 subscribers on Instagram and 2,500 subscribers on YouTube.
